What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels can treat fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation issues, scarring, and acne. The procedure ranges from light to medium depth, where old layers of the skin are sloughed off and new, radiant layers are revealed. The results will leave a smooth and revitalized complexion. It is recommended to do peels in a series which can be 3-6 peels spaced out every 1-2 months depending on the depth of the peel.

The procedure begins with a double cleanse and an analysis of the skin, followed by degreasing the skin with a solution such as acetone to make sure the skin is free of any oils, and then the peel is placed on the skin using a layering technique. Between layers, the skin is analyzed and assessed by your aesthetician to see how the skin is reacting to the peel. Depending on the depth of the peel, you can expect flaking and peeling for a few days up to a week after the peel. It is important to keep the skin nice and hydrated and protected during this time, meaning no sun exposure. You will need to suspend the use of active ingredients including Retinol 3-5 days before this treatment, and it is recommended to not add any of these products back into your skincare routine until the skin has healed from the procedure.
